Separating the profound from the performative is always challenging when trying to do the right thing. We have taken this pause to find ways to do better and be better. How that shows up will change because there is no one answer, but if we don’t start now, when?
This is our starting point. We will make mistakes, and we will learn and expand from them.
Our action plan is the first step of our commitment to the community.
From now until forever, we will donate $5 from every sale of a selected Superette product to organizations that support our mission.
Our 2020 donations to date:
($1,340 from 268 Superette grinders and $1,115 from Dirt Deli collaboration).
This current quarter's focus: between September 1 to November 30, 2020, we will be focusing our efforts on Cannabis Amnesty.
It’s not enough to decriminalize weed. We must repair the damage done to communities harmed most. Black and Indigenous people have disproportionately been victims of cannabis-related arrests. We are helping to fight for the expungement of cannabis convictions from individuals’ criminal records.
Canada has an opportunity to become a world leader by implementing a cannabis policy driven by compassion and evidence, not stigma and fear. Amnesty for Canadians with convictions for simple possession of cannabis is an essential part of any fair and equitable cannabis legalization model.
For every purchase of a Superette hat online and in-store, $5 will go to Cannabis Amnesty. We’ll publish the total raised in early December.
